Glitch Trio is a short work for violin, piano, and percussion written for this subset of the new music ensemble, Latitude 49. The work is just under 2 minutes in length and was composed with the intention of programming this piece as either an encore or an introductory work to a concert experience. The work is bookended by two sections making use of a jagged rhythmic theme that has a (seemingly) tough time getting itself started as if it were a malfunctioning engine or a computer command in error, hence the word “Glitch” in the title. This work should be performed with high energy and precision as if in a progressive rock group. Glitch Trio may be amplified.

Glitch Trio was premiered on July 26, 2019 at the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy in Lombard, IL by Timothy Steeves, Jani Parsons, and Chris Sies of Latitude 49 as part of the NCKP’s PEDx 9.
